Tu began training in taekwondo at 13. He later became a pre-Olympic competitor, instructor, and studio owner — experiencing firsthand the same challenges many studio owners face: long nights, manual work, and the feeling of hitting a growth ceiling.

Through persistence and experience, he built InCourage Martial Arts into a multi-location organization. But he never forgot the frustrations of trying to scale without the right systems and support. That experience ultimately led him to create MyStudio after becoming the first martial arts entrepreneur to graduate from Harvard Business School.
